Delicious Seafood Recipe

Are you into seafood like me? Why not try making a spicy and savory squid stir-fry dish for dinner tonight? This can be served with a bowl of steamed rice or noodles. Introducing one of my old time favorite and popular Ojingo Bokum (Spicy Squid Stirfry) recipes!

Yields 3-4 servings


* 2 small whole squid
* 4 green onions or spring onions
* 1 large carrot
* 1 tablespoon olive oil or vegetable oil
* 1 tablespoon pure toasted sesame oil
* 1/2 teaspoon sesame seed
* 1 cup of chopped green onion and 1 cup of chopped sesame leaves for additional flavoring and garnish
* 2 tbsp of vegetable oil for cooking

Optional Vegetables

* 1/2 white onion (optional)
* 1/4 small green cabbage (optional)
* 3 large mushrooms (optional)

Stir Fry Sauce

* 1 tbsp lite soy sauce
* 1/s tbsp sesame oil
* 1 tbsp rice wine
* 1 tbsp gochujang red chili paste
* 1 tsp stevia or brown sugar
* 2 tbsp freshly chopped garlic
* 1 tbsp freshly chopped ginger
* 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
* 1 inch fresh gingerroot, peeled
* 1 tbsp gochugaru red chilli pepper (optional)


1. In a sauce pan, add the sauce ingredients and simmer in medium low heat and set aside
2. Clean the squid in cold water
3. Slit the squid body open
4. Cut into 1/4 inch wide strips from the “head” to the “tail”
5. Cut the strips into about 2 inch sections and the same with the tentacles
7. Trim top and bottom of green onions, wash in cold water, then cut into about 2 inch lengths
8. Slice the carrot diagonally into thin slices and then cut them up into strips
9. Cut the onion into thin strips
10. Preheat a large frying pan or wok over medium high heat and add the cooking oil
11. Add the sliced onion and carrots and stir fry for about a minute
12. Add the squid and stir fry for about a minute, then pour the sauce
13. Stir fry all the ingredients for about 2 minutes, then remove from heat ( Do not over-cook the squid)
14. Sprinkle chopped green onion and sesame oil on top before serving
